Cold Drinks

Traditional Southern Iced Tea


Materials

- Pot

- Ladle

- Pitcher

- Knife

Ingredients

- Black Tea Bags (12 or More)

- Honey

- Granulated Cane sugar

- Baking Soda

- Lemon

- Water

Cooking Steps

Steps:

  1. Hang 12+ tea bags along the lining of the pot, with tea bags in the pot

  2. Steep for 5 to 15 minutes, depending on your cloudiness preference

  3. Drizzle honey into the pot during steeping

  4. Midway through steeping, sprinkle a pinch of baking soda (no more than 3 pinches) and stir.

  5. Once done steeping, while still hot, pour in 1 cup of granulated sugarcane.

  6. Stir until fully saturated

  7. Squeeze lemon and stir

  8. Pour tea into the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 24 hours.

  9. Enjoy

Cucumber Agua Fresca


Materials

- Pitcher

- Blender
- Cheese Cloth

- Peeler 

- Knife

- Measuring Cup

- Prongs/Pinching aparatuses

- Zester Grater

Ingredients

- Cucumber

- Granulated Sugar

- Lime

- Mint

- Water


Cooking Steps

Steps:

Prepare 1 cup of Granulated sugar in a bowl, then zest 3-4 limes onto the sugar

  1. Stir until thoroughly mixed, then rest for 30 minutes to an hour.

  2. Wash, Cut, and Peel 3 Cucumber, then place cucumbers in blender.

  3. Dump Sugar into blender.

  4. Squeeze lime juice of all 3-4 limes into Blender.

  5. Dump 2-3 cups of water into blender.

  6. Blend Until very smooth

  7. Place cheese cloth over pitcher.

  8. Pour liquid into cheese clothe then strain by squeeze cheese clothe by hand or by prongs.

  9. Once all juice is strained into Pitcher, place mint leaves into juice and place in Frigerator.

  10. Enjoy.
